"March 31 st , April 1 st , 3
rd and 4 th , I film for several hours. I watch without
interruption, sometimes I feel the rhythm of desires
that keeps people moving. The movements and emotions
on stage offer various levels of reading. Nothing exists
before a small gesture that triggers off a long action
and involves other participants, nothing steers the audience's
attention through a pre-established path. Our gaze is
subjected to a process of instant decision making when
facing the events on stage." Luciana Fina (www.lucianafina.net) |

Do you know
what I see from the window of my house?
Bags of charcoal! Many bags of charcoal.
Lots and lots, really...
(Sérgio, dancer
from Maputo) Lisbon, 7th International Encounter
Dançar o que é nosso - a
month of practical 'laboratories' and seminars about interculturalism
and the performing arts, organised by Danças na
Cidade, and led by anthropologist André Lepecki
and invited choreographers and dance teachers. Fifty-four
artists bring their culture, bodies and movements from
Indonesia, Burkina Faso, Portugal, Mozambique, South Africa,
Great Britain, Brazil, Belgium...
Through performance practices, they question the crystallisation
of cultures and the dead-end of non-communication. They
try to incorporate different movement experiences. I accompany
them, interrogate myself, film and look for images that
are theirs.

[P.
Matvejevic in “Breviario Mediterraneo”]
Ideas, projects and challenges of an organization financed by the
European Community to develop research,
creation and circulation of contemporary dance in the Mediterranean region.
This documentary accompanies a network of people who collaborate with the
Mediterranean Dance Network (DBM – Danse Bassin Méditerranée) during a number
of meetings in Istanbul, Tunis, Cagliari and Marseille, exposing
desires and expectations at a
moment of tension and confrontation in euro-mediterranean
relations.

Can art think and rethink society through its creative
practices?
This film is part of a
project on intercultural policies and practices in the performative arts
(together with the documentary “The Encounter”, 2004).
I am interested in questioning the perspectives of
North-South relations and, on a Mediterranean scale, the relations between
European, Northafrican and Arab cultures. I direct my attention to them,
convinced that experiences from the realm of arts can stimulate our
understanding and alternative readings of contemporany reality. Luciana Fina (www.lucianafina.net) |

is the interpreters that guide us and through them and
their roles in the piece we discover the universe of
Camacho. Through interviews held during the rehearsals,
this documentary unveils the creation of atmospheres...
perspectives and expectations... doubts and certainties...
relations and interactions... fragilities and mutations...
the choreographer and the group. Hence, the necessity
of recording not only the rehearsals, but also the moments
before and after. Tension and release. Abandon and giving.
Pauses and silences. Togetherness and fun." Pedro Duarte |
