HORÁRIO DE VERÃO #6 – Anna Marocco

artistic residency
30 jul – 8 aug, 14-19 aug
Espaço Alkantara

CATARTICA it is a project still in creation process that borns from a personal investigation on the psychophysical and sensory level to embrace global issues such as eco-feminism, antispecism, sacred and profane sphere, individual and collective, private and public space. It is inspired by post-psychedelic therapies and ritual ceremonies, animal world and cyborg mechanics, visions and dreams of war, in a catharsis of all forms of violence to which we are exposed and which we have produced over time under the capitalist-patriarchal regime. The aim of the project is to create an intense, almost hypnotic experience suspended in time in which the body constantly changes state, inhabiting transitory and contradictory conditions in an ongoing process of gerund-ation, a continuous becoming, without ever becoming crystallized in a fixed and definable form. A body like a territory, in continuous transition and migration.

Anna Marocco is anthropologist and Italian artist. Beside her degree in Political Science and Anthropology, she trained as dancer and visual artist both in Italy and abroad (Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, India). Since 2010 she has developed her own artistic projects with a transversal and multidisciplinary approach ( Le-gami 2011; Katan 2012; H.O.M.E. 2014). In 2011 she graduates in Contemporary Dance at Forum Dança, in Lisbon. She collaborated as dancer for nanou group, Michele di Stefano (MK) and Xavier Le Roy. Since 2015 she has been part of the core team of the Marosi Stromboli artistic project. In 2016 she creates a choreographic quintet FUCSIA: do I matter to you? produced by Tenuta dello Scompiglio (IT). In 2018 she is involved in the research and development of CATARTICA project. From 2018 she collaborates as dancer / performer with Daniele Albanese, Fernanda Eugénio and Tamara Cubas.
The core of her research and artistic production is the transversality of approach that combining ethnography, philosophy, performing arts and activism puts them into relationship to the spaces/places, inhabiting them like in a kind of embodiment practicie.
Beside her artistic body-based research, she teaches Yoga and Dance in national as well as international context and with different types of audiences.
