|
010.09.03
Marlene Freitas is in residence at espaço alkantara from 19th till 27th September working on her new creation - "Guintche"
"A while ago I attended a concert. Later on I did a drawing of a silhouette I saw there – it had sticked to my mind. Some months later that silhouette was still on my mind. Then I thought: why not give life to this drawing? Time passed and nothing happened. In the meantime, the silhouette asked to come to life and to have its own personal history. I started by giving it a name, Guintche. "

010.01.04
Spanish choreographer Cristina Blanco will be the artist in residence at espaço alkantara from 05 to 31 January, to work on her new performance “ciencia-ficción”.
“ciencia-ficción” (science-fiction) wants to be about science, a research from the point of view of a very unscientific brain. It intends to dig into the infinitely big and the infinitely small, the macro-cosmos and micro-cosmos; to use video and the macro function of the camera; to work with very close plans which eliminate or transform references of space, and evoke other references in the minds of the spectator; to create different realities of the same space by zooming in and out to the minimum and maximum of it.

alkantara festival from 22 May till 8 June 2008
|
08.03.04
From the 22nd of May till the 8th of June, alkantara festival returns to the city of Lisbon with a program of fresh and innovative theatre and dance from a rapidly changing world.
Alkantara 2008 presents over 25 performances by artists coming from Portugal, Australia, India, Turkey, New Zealand, Democratic Republic of Congo, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Switzerland, USA, Germany, Russia, Argentina, Czech Republic, Brazil, Lebanon, France, China, Algeria and Columbia, in 15 venues and spaces all over the city. This diversity does not stem from a fascination with the exotic, but goes in search of a dialogue with artists who communicate an alternative view of the world(s) we inhabit. Each person is inevitably shaped and influenced by personal and cultural experiences, but always retains the capacity to reach beyond. Thus diversity becomes an opportunity to multiply points of view and an invitation to venture beyond the reality that surrounds us day by day.
