MAREO (ficar tonta)

- 16.02 — 22.02 2026
Continuing an investigation into aqueous bodies, living materials and their performativity, MAREO (to become dizzy) opens, on this occasion, as a laboratory-studio for the creation of filters for conventional (incandescent) projectors, made from water, agar-agar algae and natural pigments, filters that function as organic membranes, sensitive to light and heat.
Based on lighting design and a sensitive approach to the materials used in the craft, this laboratory seeks to deepen the behaviour, intelligence and performativity of its materials, working with them not as passive supports, but as active phenomena. The MAREO studio is configured as a living and sensitive network of intertwining light, matter, liquid perception and sensitive surroundings, activating a state of observation in which the fluid, the unstable and the relational become central.
Gabriela Clavería — LADRA is a multidisciplinary artist and explorer of materialities from Chile. Experimentation with different media and supports, combined with collaborative work, has been fundamental to her artistic and personal development, oriented towards the creation of visualities and experiences that enhance sensitive connections. She conceives her artistic practice as a network of symbiotic and co-creative relationships between humans and more-than-humans, as well as between organisms and their surroundings. Since 2021, she has been living in Lisbon, where she has been developing and articulating projects through visual arts, lighting and sound, understood as performative gestures capable of generating experiences in which materials affect each other. She is a member of matéria leve and, at the same time, under the pseudonym LADRA, she is co-creator and resident DJ of RABIOSA, a Latin community, radio station and party focused on the biodiversity of Latin American sounds.
