Haven't we met before?

Teatro Taborda holds not only one of the stages of the festival, it is also the place where its heart beats. Next to its most charming little 19th century theatre, Teatro Taborda also has a number of small meeting rooms, a cyber café, a bar and a restaurant and one of the most agreeable esplanades of the city, with a splendid view on downtown Lisboa.
The festival meeting point will be open every day from 2 p.m. till late at night. During the day, you can have a small lunch and a drink. In the evening, after the performances, Lars serves dinner in the restaurant, while Frans Poelstra and Nadia Lauro serve Haven't we met before?.

GENERAL MEETING OF THE NETWORK DBM (DANSE BASSIN MÉDITERRANÉE)
15 and 16,
saturday and sunday,
Centro Cultural de Belém

DBM is a network of dance professionals, interested in the development of contemporary dance in the Mediterranean region. The idea of the network comes from the recognition that dancers, choreographers and organisers living in the south of Europe not only share a common cultural heritage, but also a number of structural problems that can best be tackled in a collaborative way: the limited training possibilities in contemporary dance, the low incidence of international collaborations and co-productions, the feeble national and international circulation of dance productions, the brain drain of artistic talent from the South to the North, the limited resources for professional communication, information and sensitisation of the public and the lack of theoretical research and critical analysis of contemporary artistic creation.
Another fundamental goal of DBM is to stimulate a regular and structural artistic exchange between Europe and Northern Africa, an extremely important cultural project in which the southern European countries can and should play a decisive role.

Once a year a general meeting is held, bringing together dancers, choreographers and organisers from, or with a special interest in, the Mediterranean basin.

The programme of the Lisbon meeting and information about registering is available at the Danças na Cidade office and on the website. Participation in the meeting is free of charge and open to all interested dance professionals.

5TH INTERNATIONAL MEETING
DANÇAR
O QUE É NOSSO

21 and 22,
friday and saturday,
Teatro Taborda

Dançar o que é Nosso is a long term program, initiated by Danças na Cidade in 1998. It is aimed at stimulating collaboration and exchange between artists and organisers, working in the field of dance, from Europe, Africa and Latin America, thus opening up new ways for co-operation between the North and the South.

A recurrent event is the annual International Meeting Dançar o que é Nosso in Lisbon, bringing together artists and/or organisers from the North and the South to meet, work together and exchange experiences and ideas.

For this 5th meeting Danças na Cidade invited around 25 dance organisers and producers from various African and European countries, from the USA and from Brazil to discuss the development of African contemporary dance and its growing internationalisation. The participants of this two-day seminar will exchange information on existing projects and discuss ways of furthering exchange and collaboration.
