Programme: Luciana Fina & Mark Deputter
Contemporary dance has generated new creative
developments by redefining space and its modalities of representation
and researching affinities with other art forms and media. Particularly
the approximation to the arts of the moving image, the visual arts,
and the new poetics of the body have renovated creation processes and
the relation with the audience.
In trying to enter these new landscapes of space and the moving body,
present in various areas of contemporary creation, this section of Danças
na Cidade 2002 also rethinks the space of presentation. The dance performances,
conferences, films, video and interactive installations included in
Scores and Landscapes transform the space of CAM in an 'intermedial'
space, stretched out from the theatre stage over the galleries to the
museum. A landscape characterised by the profound interaction of
creative processes, rather than the wish to create
multimedia spectacle.

Close Encounters is a parcours along a series
of unexpected performance sites around the city.
The public is invited to discover shows, performances and installations
in non conventional places. Each spectator can create his/her individual
tour around the city. As the performances will be either continuous
or never last longer than 20 minutes, the public will have the opportunity
to see various performances. There will be buses on a circuit passing
at all performing sites.
On
your way through the city, looking for the next Close Encounter, prepared
by one of the artists-participants, you can take a rest in the festival
meeting point at Teatro Taborda. Here you can meet with other spectators
over a drink on a terrace with a spectacular view over the city, exchange
impressions or even try to find out which are the 'hot spots' of the
Close Encounters.
The
audience is also invited to vote for their favorite show and can do
so at each performance site. At the end of the night the winner of the
Prize of the Public will be revealed in an animated 'ceremony' at the
festival Meeting Point.
