Soledad Figueroa Rodríguez is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher, and co-director of the CAPRA Arte Colectivo. Her artistic research explores the intersection of poetry and the expanded voice from a compostist and counter-hegemonic perspective. She has performed as a singer in the groups Magreb and La Cabra Voladora, and worked as an actress and director in projects presented at the Teatro del Puente, Teatro U. Mayor, Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, Taller siglo XX, Festival Santiago Off, and Findatz—some of which were funded by MINCAP (Chile). She has undertaken artistic residencies at Central Elétrica (Porto), Teatro da Didascália, A Bela Associação, Jardins do Bombarda (directed by Ece Canli), RAIA-CET in collaboration with Espaço Alkantara, and Theater Im Depot (Dortmund, Germany)—the latter being a collaboration between CAPRA and Cistifellea, funded by Culture Moves Europe and the Stadt Dortmund – Kulturbüro. In 2020, her short play La cosa was a winner of the Teatro Nacional de Chile’s playwriting award. Furthermore, her poems have been featured as video-poetry at the Festival Nudo in Barcelona, and as sound poetry at Versódromo (Jardins do Bombarda, Lisbon) and Espaço Porta Jazz (Porto). Soledad has presented her work at international conferences such as EASTAP, PSi, and VASTA, and has been published in specialised journals, as well as co-authoring books on theatre and performance. Since 2013, she has taught voice, singing, and theory at theatre schools and universities in Chile. She holds a BA in Acting and an MA in Arts, specialising in Theatre Studies and Practices, from PUC-Chile. Currently based in Portugal, she is a PhD candidate in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Lisbon, a researcher at the Centre for Theatre Studies (CET), and an FCT PhD grant holder.
